Brigham Young, "The Moses of the Mormons" Framed Autograph and Portraits of Him and His Wives
This item is an authentic autograph of Brigham Young framed with postcard portraits of the "Moses of the Mormons" and twenty-one (21) of his wives. Young was a very successful religious leader and businessman who is responsible for much of modern day Utah. Brigham Young led his people to Utah from Nauvoo, Illinois (then about the size of Chicago) in 1847 when Utah was still a part of Mexico at considerable risk to himself and his followers. Young became the first Governor of Utah Territory in 1850. He is most famous today not only for his leadership of the Mormons but for founding the University of Utah, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Brigham Young University. Young married over 50 women, 21 of which are pictured in the postcard included in this item, and he had 57 known children. He has lots of descendents walking the earth, including Steve Young, NFL Hall of fame football player. The Sanders Price Guide to Autographs lists a Brigham Young autograph alone (not in a letter or signed picture) as worth $516, and that is without the item nicely framed with portraits of him and his wives. Shipping of the item via Priority Mail with insurance will cost $20. Price: SOLD |
