Framed 1830 Lithograph of the Marquis de Lafayette in Uniform as General in Chief of the French National Guard

The print is dated 1830 with the name of the artist "Lecler"

This is a wonderful original lithograph produced during the lifetime of American Revolutionary War hero General Lafayette (Gilbert du Montier, Marquis de Lafayette). In this 1830 lithograph issued 6 years after Lafayette's famous last visit to America and 4 years before his death, Lafayette is pictured in uniform as the head of the French National Guard ("General en Chef De la Garde Nationale") during the French Revolution. This is apparently a very rare image of Lafayette; it does not appear in a key word text search of Google and an image search of Google shows hundreds of images of Lafayette, but not this one! The only one I could find was in the library of Cornell University.

The image area inside the mat is 11 x 15 inches and the outside dimensions of the frame are 21 1/2 x 25 inches.

This fine historic print is matted, glazed, framed and ready to hang on your wall.
