1780 Autograph of Patriot Governor Jonathan Trumbull and Ezekiel Williams

    This item is an autographed conclusion of a Revolutionary War official State of Connecticut document signed by Governor Jonathan Trumbull and Ezekiel Williams, Jr. on October 7, 1780 and accompanied by an 1863 steel engraving of Trumbull with his facsimile signature ready for framing.  Trumbull was the only patriot governor of the British colonies and served from 1769 through 1784. He and was a friend and critical supporter of George Washington (known to him as "Brother Jonathan") and the Continental Army.

Ezekiel Williams who witnesses Governor Trumbull's signature on the document held a wide variety of important positions before, during and after the Revolutionary War, including Captain in the Continental Army, Commander of the Continental Army Prison, Sheriff of Hartford County and member of the Pay Table Committee that governed Connecticut's Revolutionary War finances.
