Lyndon Johnson 1960 Senate Chamber Gallery Pass

This is a United States Senate Chamber pass for the 86th Congress, second session, dates June 8, 1960 for Mr. H. E. Brooks to sit in the galleries and watch the Senate proceeding. Lyndon Johnson was the Senate Majority leader at the time, the highest post in the Senate, and running for the Democrat nomination for President of the United States. These kind of passes are rarely personally signed by a Senator and this one looks like it may have been stamped with Johnson's signature.  Still, it is a nice historic relic of Johnson's last year in the Senate, a body that he dominated and few have topped him since in his mastery of the role (See, e.g., Robert Caro's third volume of his biography of Johnson entitled "Master of the Senate.")  Shows wear and soiling.
