1880 Magazine of American History Chock Full of Pictures, Maps
and Stories on George Washington, The Revolutionary War and Other Interesting
Persons and Events
Offered here is six months of the Magazine of
American History (July - December 1880) bound in a green cloth binding and full
of interesting articles and illustrations. Below I have pictured the entire
table of contents and list of illustrations as well as provided some examples of
the quality of the illustrations, including a Pawnee Indian chief, Generals
George Washington and Horatio Gates, French General Rochambeau and Declaration
of Independence Signer George Clymer, and a map of the Revolutionary War Battle
of Camden, South Carolina. The major illustrations, like those pictured below,
are on heavier stock paper and have nothing on the reverse side.
The book also has a number of maps, both full
page maps and double page fold out maps (e.g., picturing the route of the French
and American armies on their way from Rhode Island to Yorktown, Virginia for the
final major battle of the Revolutionary War.) all of which appear to be in
excellent condition.
George Washington and Horatio Gates
French General Rochambeau and Declaration Signer George Clymer
This is an ex-library book but it is in very good
condition. There are very few of these bound volumes listed on the internet and
none for 1880 and they go as high as $200 a volume (one for 1886). It's a perfect present for the history buff in the family.
Price: $45 SOLD
We have other volumes of this fine history
magazine for the late 1870s and 1880s.
