1850s Hand Colored Stone Lithographs of Birds of the West Western or California Grebe
This odd bird pictured on the edge of water with his big blue webbed feet is a Western or California Grebe, the Podiceps Californicus. On the upper margin of the print it says "U.S.P.R.R. Exp. & Surveys --- California" and "Birds --- Plate VIII." Below is the lithograph as it will come to you matted and in a protective clear plastic sleeve.
