Playwright Henry Arthur Jones

"Author - Manager"

Standing with his hands on hips, a cane and manuscript of one of his famous plays on the stage, Sir Leslie Ward has playwright Henry Arthur Jones striking a jaunty pose in the Vanity Fair portrait published in 1892.

The biography of Jones by Jehu Junior published with the print, a copy of which is included, notes the humble upbringing and limited education of Jones did not deter Jones from becoming a successful writer and producer of plays:

He might never have been heard of; but one night he went down into the pit of a theatre and his fate was sealed. After the crisis he made himself a nuisance to theatrical managers, for though he had failed as a story writer, yet the play was the thing..."

This print comes already matted to a standard 16 x 20" frame size and enclosed in a protective plastic sleeve.
