1861 Winslow Homer Civil War Wood Engraving

"The Seceding Mississippi Delegation in Congress"

This original Winslow Homer wood engraving was published in Harper's Weekly on February 2, 1861 and shows the entire State of Mississippi delegation to the United States Congress which resigned because their state had voted to secede from the Union. The most striking and important portrait is of United States Senator and former Secretary of War, Jefferson Davis, who later that year would go on to become the President of the Confederate States of America, a post he held throughout the Civil War. A close-up of Davis from the engraving is shown below.

Below is the print as matted to a standard frame size of 16 x 20 inches, which will be it simple and easy to pop into a reasonably priced frame. It will come in a protective plastic sleeve.
