Winslow Homer 1870 Matted Wood Engraving "The Tenth Commandment" This cover page from the March 12, 1870 Harper's Weekly has Winslow Homer's illustration of the teachings of the Tenth Commandment and picturing all the things we are not supposed to covet by the mandate of the Commandment, (wives, money, property, oxen and asses, etc.). The center of the graphic as two lovely ladies kneeling in church praying and to the side is a guy kneeling and what looks like a covetous look on his face. This engraving has Winslow Homer signing in type, something I have not seen on any of his other engravings.
Below is the print as matted (cropped a little in this picture) and enclosed in a protective plastic sleeve (which creates the camera reflections). This matted print in nice condition will easily pop into a standard size 16 x 20 inch frame.
