1874 Winslow Homer Wood Engraving "On the Beach at Long Branch - The Children's Hour"
Long Branch, New Jersey was a trendy beach resort after the Civil War and the subject of many prints, included a number by Winslow Homer. Here Homer in his inimitable style pictures women and their children and nannies in full dress regalia on the beach. It's quite a contrast the the beach wear of today, here even the children rarely display a bare ankle. Below is a close-up picture of the lady and her child that are the foreground focus of the engraving.
Below is a picture of the engraving matted as it will come to you in a standard frame size of 16 x 20 inches and enclosed in a protective plastic sleeve.
